China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation (CBCGDF) is carrying on Regional Comprehensive Assessment of Biodiversity (RCAB) research. One of the efforts is to promote Biodiversity Conservation in Our Neighborhood (BCON).

The current Protected Areas mechanism is not enough to reserve the rapid loss of biodiversity globally. A very important approach, according to Dr. Zhou Jinfeng who directs the leading conservation association, is the "BCON" approach - to incorporate biodiversity conservation into people's daily lives. That's why CBCGDF has recently carried out China's first RCAB biodiversity assessment in a neighborhood in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

On our 2nd day of Cangqian biodiversity survey, we also went to Mount. Wushan for a field investigation. Opposite to Guashan, Wushan also enjoys a perfect ecology with abundant vegetation all year round. It's a protected area, mainly featuring native Plant Species. It is rare to find such an ecologically intact low mountain area in the largely urbanized city after nearly 1000 yrs.
